There’s a New Pup at the White House!

on 08/29/2013 - 06:21 pm

A new canine friend was just sworn in to the White House when the Obamas adopted year-old puppy from Michigan. She was born in June of 2012. They’ve named her Sunny after her bright and happy personality.  She joins the family as a younger sibling to the family’s dog Bo.  Both dogs are the same breed, a Portuguese Water Dog. This breed is really great because they are good for families with allergies, such as the Obamas. Sunny is very warm, loving, and enthusiastic—a perfect companion for Bo. Sunny and Bo will be seen at special White House events, dinners, and of course the cozied up in the Oval Office.  In honor of Sunny’s arrival, The Obama family is ...

Today, August 26th, is National Dog Day, so celebrate your furry friends.
National Dog Day was founded in 2004 to honor dogs (more than we currently do), recognize the massive number of shelter pets looking for a good home , and encourage their adoption. National Dog Day is against any kind of "breed ban".
If you are looking for a companion, look through our directory of animal shelters near you and save a dog's life by adopting.

Last month, Chef Michaels Dog food and Chef Rocco Dispirito joined together to host the World’s Largest Dog-Friendly Communal Dining Event. Inviting 224 humans and 120 of their canine counterparts, they set a world record while giving owners and their dogs a chance to get social and bond over a love of food.
Chef Rocco Dispirito is very passionate about communal dining and the way it brings people together, and he wanted to make sure our furry friends were not excluded. Chef Michaels had just finished a Dog-friendly food truck tour and was ready to jump right into this event.

DNA Testing Your Dog’s Poop?

on 08/07/2013 - 11:55 pm

We’re all annoyed when a pleasant walk is ruined by stepping in a certain surprise left by a stranger’s dog. Wouldn’t it be nice if something could be done about it.? Apparently a company in Texas is getting the ball rolling.
Poo Prints is a company that has developed a system requiring dog-owners to register their pet’s DNA in an official registry. If that pet’s DNA is found in a poop left on a city lawn, the DNA is matched and the owner is fined. This is a way of ensuring that all poop is cleaned up and off the streets. Some apartment complexes in Dallas are already requiring tenants to use the system, paying $29.95 for the initial DNA sampling ...

Sweet Melody for Your Fido

on 08/06/2013 - 12:55 am

Without fail, my neighbor sings to her dog when she gets home from work. Every day that familiar tune rings through the walls, “You are pretty, oh so pretty!”. Her father sings to the dog when it’s time to eat: “Oh my baby, come get yummies!”.  You might be thinking about how ridiculous that is. Or if you’re honest with yourself, you might be feeling relief that someone else does this too! You sing to your dog, too, don’t you? Your songs are even sillier, aren’t they? Knew it. Don’t be embarrassed, turns out it is actually very beneficial for your dog!
Singing to your pup may seem like a silly thing to do, but because of y ...

Where’s the Remote, Mom? I Want to Watch DogTV!

on 08/03/2013 - 09:14 pm

My Aunt and Uncle’s dog Sarah Jane was a more avid TV watcher than I’ll ever be. She literally jumped and danced for joy when she could watch her favorite programs: Animal Planet, Little Lulu, and the Viking-ridden Capital One commercial. These shows were great ways for her to get excited without destroying the house, but there was no guarantee what would be on TV when my Aunt and Uncle were away. Others shows would cause chaos. Luckily, DogTV is providing a solution to that problem.
A television channel has been created specifically for dogs. After years of research it, was formulated to help lonely dogs have a safe and engaging pastime while their owners are away.  DogTV ...
