Sam Simon created one of the most popular television shows of all time. He is the co-creator and executive producer of The Simpsons. He recently found out he had terminal colon cancer. Simon, a positive and giving person, chose to make the most out of his battle, a battle that he says is, “the most amazing experience of my life”.

Simon never married or had children but felt a deep connection to the animal kingdom. He joined PETA and also created his own organization, the Sam Simon Foundation, which trains hearing dogs to aid the deaf. He has always cared for and helped animals, but his current situation has been a huge booster to his already enormously generous spirit.

We recently learned about Emily, a Great Dane who served her owner as a service dog for nine and a half years. Her owner, Brian, battles with panic disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and loved Emily for all the comfort and companionship she provided. Brian was devastated when it came time for an ailing Emily to be euthanized. He was very grateful for the help he received from Emily’s veterinary team, but needed a way to grieve and heal in a healthy manner. That’s when he was told to call on Francesca.

Happy Veterans Day.

on 11/11/2014 - 10:25 pm

We would like to take a moment to honor the men, women, and dogs who serve our country and teach you a little about them. Their history is rich and proud.

Though ferocious dogs were utilized in Roman times to Napoleon’s days, dogs didn’t begin participating in military service in America until 1942. The American military created regulations and training standards for dogs and then asked America to donate dogs to the cause. Upwards of 11,000 dogs heeded the call: German shepherds, Doberman Pinschers, Collies, Bullmastiffs, Sheepdogs, Rottweilers, Boxers, and many other breeds from many walks of life. These dogs were trained and placed in the line of defense in World War I ...
