11 year old Breana Carsey has always wanted a horse. For years she has been asking her father for a broodmare, a mommy horse. Well, one day, she finally got one.
"She has me wrapped around her finger, " laughs her father Brian, joking about how she puppy-eyed him into buying her a horse.

Nutro Chewy Apple Dog Treat Recall

Nutro has initiated a recall of their Chewy Apple Dog Treats due to a possible mold contamination. 
Consumers are urged to immediately stop feeding their pets the treats. 
Not every single bag has been affected by the recall.  Printed on the bottom of the bag under the "Best Buy" date is a lot code. If one of the following lot codes are printed on the bag, it's no good.
The contaminated codes are 450, 502, 503, 505. 
Petsmart is offering a full refund to customers that  bring in their remaining bag of affected treats.

Bravo Pet Food Announces Recall Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

Bravo Pet Foods has announced a recall on several of its products due to the possibility of salmonella contamination.
The recall was initiated after a routine testing of a sample resulted positive for salmonella, according to the FDA.
Bravo Blend Chicken Diet for dogs and cats 2 lb. chubs with both the best used by date of November 13, 2016 and the UPC number 829546211028 are recalled.
201 cases of the affected product were sold in the United States between November 21, 2014 and January 2015.
Although they were not affected, the following products were recalled because they were manufactured on the same day as the contaminated product.

Plump Pooch Flies First Class and Wows Passengers

Picture it. Flying first class, kicking back, enjoying your movie. You look over and you see a giant pooch sitting next to you in a comfy bed on wheels. You have just met Hank.
The 165 lb. Mastiff is a rescue dog, he has gained weight and cannot move too well because of a health ailment. Hence his cute cart. Hank was saved by Kari Whitman, an interior designer in Los Angeles.

Blue Buffalo Initiates Recall of Blue Kitty Yums Cat Treats Due to Chemical Contamination

Blue Buffalo has initiated a recall of its Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe cat treats due to the possibility of propylene glycol contamination, which is not allowed by the FDA for use in cat food.
The contaminated product was distributed throughout the US and Canada via pet stores and online retailers. 
The FDA was prompted to test the product after a single customer complaint was received.  Low levels of propylene glycol were found in one bag in the impacted lot.  Erring on the side of caution, Blue Buffalo has recalled the entire lot produced with the subject bag.

Halo, Purely For Pets Announces Voluntary Recall

Halo, Purely For Pets has announced a voluntary recall of its Spot's Stew Sensitive Cat Turkey kibble due to reports of mold.   Products with a Best By date of 09/04/2016 are the only ones affected.  No other product of Halo products have been affected. 
All consumers should immediately discontinue feeding their pets the affected product.  The remaining product can be returned to any Halo retailer for a full refund or replacement.

The Battle for Best Costume at the Fifth Annual Barkfest

Dogs dressed in cute and creepy costumes alike came to the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook in Centereach on Sunday for Barkfest 2015. Hundreds of dogs were dressed up this weekend to compete for best costume. The winners got their treats early this year and went home with large goody-bags filled with Milk-Bones.
The event was sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, Little Shelter, National Mill Dog Rescue, and Save-a-Pet. Long Island radio station, Party 105, provided a live broadcast.

K-9 Kraving Dog food Announces Voluntary Recall on Chicken Patties

Buckle up ladies and gentlemen; the recall has hit the fan!  If you've fed your dog K-9 Kraving Chicken Patties then you will want to keep an eye on them. The company has announced a voluntary recall of its Chicken Patty Dog Food due to possible contamination of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. This recall affects products shipped between July 13th and July 17th of 2015 to retail stores located in Maryland.
No other product of K-9 Kravings Dog Food was affected, so don’t be worried.
After routine testing by the FDA, a sample of Chicken Patties tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes, alerting K-9 Craving Dog Food to the issue at hand.

Pet parents; look out for some treats that have been recalled for a possible salmonella contamination.
The recalled treat, "Good 'n' Fun – Beefhide Chicken Sticks" was distributed nationwide by Salix Animal Health LLC to Dollar General and Dollar Tree retail stores.
The treat in question is packaged in a 2.8 ounce bag stamped on the backside with lot # AO15010 and with an expiration date of 03/2018. The UPC code is 0 91093 82247 1.

Eugene Bostick lives in Fort Worth, TX, where he and his brother have a horse barn that has become a popular spot for pet-owners to abandon their dogs. Bostick retired a while ago, and didn’t imagine that he’d become the dog hero he has.
