Rescued Doxie Loses Love Handles

on 03/19/2015 - 07:58 pm

A rotund mini dachshund named Dennis lost a total of 44 pounds, 80% of his own body weight, after quitting his snacking on pizza and hamburgers. Dennis was rescued by now owner Brooke Burton, a nursing student and Ohio resident, who took ownership from a relative who was maltreating the now 12 pound pup. At his heaviest, “Dennis was very depressed and didn’t have much of a personality,” Burton said.

She knew the responsibilities of handling a mistreated animal, but with a diet consisting only of dry dog food, daily walks, and all the love in the world, Dennis was able to shed the weight slowly and in a healthy way to become the happy-go-lucky dog he is today. The c ...

Where he lacks in sight, he compensates with kindness. Smiley, the perfectly adorable Golden Retriever, was born without eyes and was a victim of a puppy mill. He was extremely timid when he was rescued with twenty other dogs out of the eighty five living in the barn at the age of two by owner Joanne George. George was able to find the other nineteen dogs homes, but due to his dwarfism was unable to find a family. So, she decided to stop trying to find him a home when he already had one.

George began taking Smiley to the nursing home where her grandmother resided in order to socialize him and that’s when she found that “he really did something to t ...

on 03/06/2015 - 10:15 pm

As we all know, our tail-wagging, tongue-flailing friends have a complex body language system that tells us what they’re thinking, but one thing I think we all have wondered is ‘Does my dog actually love me’? Here are five signs that your loyal pooch is actually your BFF.

1. Where does your dog choose to lay down on a full belly? If your dog chooses to relax on or near you, then that’s a definite sign he loves you. Dogs are instinctually always looking for food. It’s normal if your dog pays close attention to you before they’re fed, but if they come over to you after, it means that they’re there for the companionship. AKA love.

Purina Pet Food. Still Poisoning Our Dogs?

on 03/02/2015 - 05:57 pm

When you go to buy food and treats for your dog, you expect that the food and treats are free of harmful chemicals and products, and that they are 100% safe for your dog to consume. Unfortunately, some companies do not have the same beliefs, nor do they adhere to the same code of ethics as most dog owners. Purina is one of those companies that do not adhere to the same code of ethics as most dog owners.

Although Purina claims they were not the cause of many animal illnesses and deaths, in May of 2014, Purina and Waggin Train LLC agreed to create a $6.5 million fund to compensate pet owners who claimed their pets were either sick or passed away after eating their jerky treats. The Pu ...
