Yang Xiaoyunn, a retired schoolteacher from Tianjin, China, has been an animal activist and advocate since 1995 when she pulled an abandoned kitten out of a river. In 1999, she founded “Common House for All” which provides sanctuary to 1,500 rescued dogs and 200 rescued cats.Since then, Yang has taken in hundreds of animals while referring to them as her “children”, sold her home and relies on rented space to house them.

Do you ever feel like your dog is feeling what you are feeling? If you are feeling stressed, chances are that’s true. A scientific study just found a link between an owner’s emotional disposition and a dog’s hormone levels.  The link was prominent when the owner was stressed.
 
In the past, studies have shown that puppies feel love when their owners do. There is an increase in levels of oxytocin. Now, researchers are finding a similar phenomenon with levels of cortisol.

Poh, a sixteen year-old pit bull/Labrador retriever mix from New York City, just experienced the road trip of a lifetime. This trip was his swan song, a farewell to a long and happy life with his owner, Thomas Neil Rodriguez. 
 
Rodriguez was heartbroken when he learned that Poh, who he’d adopted from a shelter in 1999, was suffering from kidney failure. Later, doctors found a large tumor on Poh’s liver and small ones on his kidneys. The doctors told Rodriguez that Poh might only have days to live.
