Do you have pets and live in Pima County? Officials are a little concerned because another dog has tested positive for the bacterial disease, leptospirosis. This is a verified case by the health department of Pima County. A local vet notified the health department of this devastating news.
The dog has recovered from the leptospirosis,but no vaccination was completed prior to the dog picking up the bacteria from who knows where. There have been outbreaks in other cities that have affected anywhere from 50-70 dogs at a time. Prevention as a community is important. Bravo Pet Foods has announced a recall on several of its products due to the possibility of salmonella contamination.
The recall was initiated after a routine testing of a sample resulted positive for salmonella, according to the FDA.
Bravo Blend Chicken Diet for dogs and cats 2 lb. chubs with both the best used by date of November 13, 2016 and the UPC number 829546211028 are recalled.
201 cases of the affected product were sold in the United States between November 21, 2014 and January 2015.
Although they were not affected, the following products were recalled because they were manufactured on the same day as the contaminated product.

Blue Buffalo has initiated a recall of its Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe cat treats due to the possibility of propylene glycol contamination, which is not allowed by the FDA for use in cat food.
The contaminated product was distributed throughout the US and Canada via pet stores and online retailers.
The FDA was prompted to test the product after a single customer complaint was received. Low levels of propylene glycol were found in one bag in the impacted lot. Erring on the side of caution, Blue Buffalo has recalled the entire lot produced with the subject bag.

Halo, Purely For Pets has announced a voluntary recall of its Spot's Stew Sensitive Cat Turkey kibble due to reports of mold. Products with a Best By date of 09/04/2016 are the only ones affected. No other product of Halo products have been affected.
All consumers should immediately discontinue feeding their pets the affected product. The remaining product can be returned to any Halo retailer for a full refund or replacement.

Dogs dressed in cute and creepy costumes alike came to the Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook in Centereach on Sunday for Barkfest 2015. Hundreds of dogs were dressed up this weekend to compete for best costume. The winners got their treats early this year and went home with large goody-bags filled with Milk-Bones.
The event was sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, Little Shelter, National Mill Dog Rescue, and Save-a-Pet. Long Island radio station, Party 105, provided a live broadcast.
