Pet Horse Makes Little Girl's Dream Come True

11 year old Breana Carsey has always wanted a horse. For years she has been asking her father for a broodmare, a mommy horse. Well, one day, she finally got one.
"She has me wrapped around her finger, " laughs her father Brian, joking about how she puppy-eyed him into buying her a horse.
She named him MJB Got Faith. An Ohio Standardbred born in the Spring of 2013. MJB after the initials of the kids in her family and Got Faith from the faith she had in him from the start.

With the Westminster dog show just coming to a close, what better way to spend your weekend than watching the 28th Annual Arizona Touch of Class Miniature Horse show? It premiers on March 21 and 22 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona and is being sponsored by the Miniature Horse Association of Arizona (MHAA). These precious minis are coming from all over the surrounding states including California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas in order to contend for a place in the World showcase in the upcoming months.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has taken a huge step in the way of animal rights by promising to introduce a bill that will effectively ban horse-drawn carriages from the city by 2016. Animal rights activists are applauding de Blasio’s decision, with animal advocacy organization executive director Allie Feldman saying, “There is no reason that we should continue to perpetuate this unsafe, outdated, inhumane industry when we've got many different alternatives.”

A Farewell Between Friends

Wigan Royal Infirmary in Wigan, Lancashire in England experienced a very special moment recently. A 77-year-old woman named Sheila Marsh was losing her battle with cancer and had an important and unique goodbye to say. Marsh was a pet enthusiast, and owned quite a few pets. She had said goodbye to her dogs, and that encounter sparked her last wish. Apart from saying goodbye to her dogs and her family and friends, she very much wished to say goodbye to her dear friend Bronwen, a 25-year-old horse.

An Impressive Equestrian Award

Seventeen year old New Yorker Lillie Keenan received a huge honor last week when she was named Junior Equestrian of the Year by the United States Equestrian Federation. This is the cherry on top of an extremely impressive year for Lillie, and she adds this honor to her victories at the prestigious ASPCA National Finals ,the Pessoa/US Hunter Seat Medal Finals, and many more achievements in her budding career. The amount of medals won by Lillie secures her spot in history as one of the most decorated junior riders the world has seen. Congratulations, Lillie!

A horse is a fantastic pet for you, someone who loves to multi-task. Think about it- you get a friend, a ride, a project, and a pet, all in one animal!  Not to mention bragging rights: all kids want a pony at some point, and you’re actually going to get one! Look at you.  You are really winning at this whole pet selection thing. You’ve been around the block with hamsters and fish and now you’re ready to commit to a long-term relationship with an amazing creature. Congrats.
