Little Miss Mango Proves Hero’s Come In All Shapes And Sizes
Mango is a free-spirited and patriotic pup whose goal is to provide wheelcarts and hope for other dogs in need. She was found in a ditch in her home state of Texas by the city’s animal control and dumped into a kill shelter. This is where she was rescued by Emma’s Rescue. Unfortunately, they found Mango’s little body beaten and battered, as a result of being hit by a car, to the point where she would never be able to walk again. With a little bit of love, compassion, and hope, she proved everyone wrong. She now happily scoots around on her wheelcart and has since become a certified Therapy dog providing comfort to veterans.
Her owner, Judy Walter, is a veteran who served six years in the Army and is also disabled. Mango now spends her days running happily down the halls with a balloon tied to her cart. Mango has now created an entire website called Mango’s Freedom Wheels, where people who aren’t able to buy a cart for their paralyzed pet can apply and receive a cart for little or no cost. At first, Walter didn’t believe they would be able to help very many. They were hoping to be able to give out twelve carts per year, but in three months, she was able to give twenty-eight carts to animals in need.
“It’s like a full-time job for me now,” remarked Walter.
Walter is ecstatic that Mango’s website has been so successful and she is very hopeful that she and Mango will be able to continue helping dogs (and people!) in need for years to come.
